Architecture has a uniquely measurable output of the creative process. However, much of this process and its inception is invisible to the end user. I have always enjoyed being a participant in highly conceptual design studios and competitions.
I found these environments provided me the most scope to reach beyond the assumptions we have of architecture. Conceptual design can certainly be rationalised into material truth, but it is far easier to work with a strong concept and narrative, than it is to retrospectively embed a vacuous design with a compelling story.
